About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, you will develop, lead and implement an inspiring communications and public affairs strategy to drive Tapestry’s ambitious global vision. You will be a cross-functional leader with the ability to think strategically and commercially and work in a very fast-moving and ambiguous environment. You will work closely with partners on communications campaigns and inspire future partners in industry and government to join us in our mission to rapidly accelerate the decarbonization of the grid. This position requires a strong understanding of the energy industry and experience working in policy. You need to be a strong writer and creative thinker with strong media relations skills. 

 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Developing and deliver an inspiring communications and public affairs strategy to support the team’s ambitious agenda across the world 
  • Developing a range of communication materials to supporting Tapestry’s campaigns such as press releases, FAQs and talking points for a diverse set of press, industry and policy audiences
  • Working cross-functionally and with partner organizations to create, lead and execute complex multi-stakeholder communication campaigns 

Building and maintaining strong relationships with members of the press, influencers, policy makers and partners, including serving as an on-record spokesperson. 

  • Developing strategy to meaningfully engage policymakers and key opinion formers on matters affecting Tapestry’s roll out and contributions to the energy sector
  • Engage directly with press, policymakers, industry players, think tanks, and key opinion formers to shape Tapestry’s reputation and policy efforts. 

Training, advising, and developing spokespeople for media interviews, press conferences, and industry presentations; prepare talking points and briefing docs.

  • Identify, frame and bring press stories to life that strengthen our reputation.
  • Internal Communications; be responsible for employee engagement and internal communications as well as working with the C-suite on their own personal communication tactics.

 

What you should have:

  • 15 years communications and policy experience 
  • BA/BS degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience
  • Startup experience ideal, startup mentality a must
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Comfort with complicated technology and energy topics, and a knack for explaining them simply to a variety of audiences. Writing sample / test will be required for all applicants.
  • Understanding of energy, sustainability and climate change issues and the related stakeholder landscape 
  • Experience working with utilities, energy trade associations, energy and sustainability NGOs and advocacy groups, policy makers, and other similar stakeholders
  • Media relations skills and experience, with a history of developing and building great media relationships
  • Experience building and leading high performing, multi-disciplinary teams
  • Team player; strong people and relationship skills, a highly visible and accessible management style, and a genuine willingness to listen
  • Superior interpersonal and organizational skills, along with a demonstrated ability to think strategically and critically
  • Must be able to consistently exercise sound judgement and possess strong skills in the areas of leadership, persuasion and negotiation
  • Willing and able to flex between higher level strategy and detailed executional work
  • A passion for decarbonizing the electric grid
  • Confident decision-maker; self-starter with high energy/drive, a sense of humor, a positive attitude, and is results oriented.
  • An optimistic and resilient spirit 

 

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $202,000 - $250,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
